Texas A&M University

Quick-Look Assessments

Beginning in fall 2023, Texas A&M University conducted a series of quick-look assessments on the main campus, Galveston campus and McAllen teaching site. While the quick-look assessments have been implemented, more information as well as the final reports, can be found online.

Space Allocation Study

During the State of the University address in fall 2023, President Welsh mentioned several supplemental studies (or “science projects”) — Space Allocation, Student Experience and Capacity Studies — were needed based on what was learned through the Quick-Look Assessment for Texas A&M University’s main campus.

The Space Allocation Study is complete, and the accepted recommendations are being implemented. Released in two parts, the final Space Allocation Study report was shared on Dec. 21, 2023, and the recommendations outlined were formally accepted in February 2024.

Student Experience and Capacity Studies

The Student Experience Study Committee was responsible for documenting the current student experience and making recommendations on how to offer the nation’s No. 1 student experience. Through its work, the committee collected student feedback through pop-up surveys and listening sessions and utilized existing institutional data to support an overall assessment. On Jan. 23, the university released the final study and implementation plans.

The Capacity Study Committee was responsible for reviewing the current infrastructure, teaching capacities and staffing levels to identify the current and future capacity of enrollment on the main campus as well as any near- to mid-term adjustments required to better serve the entire university community. The committee’s work was divided among five groups: instructional capacity, operational capacity, research and faculty spaces, student and event spaces, and transit and mobility capacity. On Jan. 23, the university released the final study and implementation plans.

In March 2025, the university launched a Graduate and Professional Student Experience Study. A committee composed of faculty, staff and students is working to understand the graduate and professional student experience and develop recommendations to enhance it. The committee is hosting listening sessions in April.
